Having performed as a swing singer and songwriter for many years, James is the founder and Artistic Director of the Belfast School of Performing Arts. As a vocal/songwriter coach and performance studies coach, James has taught performing arts and conducted workshops to children all around the UK before moving to Belfast 11 years ago. Although heavily involved in the joy of introducing young people to the magical world of Musical Theatre, he still manages to find time to participate in musicals himself. James is a musical theatre veteran having performed in Musicals such as ‘West Side Story’, ‘Grease’, Chamber concerts of ‘Miss Saigon’ and ‘Les Miserables’ in London’s West End and played the part of the Beast in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and Barrett in Belfast Operatic Company’s award-winning production of ‘Titanic the Musical’.
James has a successful singing career with his 10-piece band and is looking forward to several return visits to the Grand Opera House Belfast after several successful sold out shows. James is delighted to be directing BSPA’s Les Miserables Schools Edition and Ghost the Musical in the Grand Opera House, Belfast this year. Musical theatre remains his passion and he is delighted to be passing on his enthusiasm to the next generation through BSPA. James also set up and runs a new production company “A Show In A Box” specifically aimed at helping people produce their own shows.
